Meet Claude from Adrift

We took the time to speak with Claude from Adrift, Newmarket Village to find out a little more about her background and what she loves most about her job.

Hi Claude, we would like to know a little more about you, where did you grow up as a child?

I grew up in beautiful France in a town called Annecy near the border of Switzerland and came to Brisbane at 13 years of age.

Having grown up in France, what are some of your favourite ingredients to cook with?

I love to cook French dishes with red wine and different spices, I make a great Rabbit stew.

Describe what is something that you absolutely can’t live without?

My cup of tea and toast in the morning, this is the only way I can start my day. I just could not function without my cuppa.

Other than indulging in your daily cup of tea, where would we find you on a typical Sunday morning?

I love going to Scarborough and looking at the ocean. I have just found a little piece of paradise there with lots of palm trees and lots of relaxation and serenity.

That sounds like a perfect Sunday! Do you have a furry, four-legged friend to bring along with you?

I am definitely a dog lover. I have a 4-year-old Labradoodle called Brandy who is my best friend. Very naughty but very lovable, much like myself

Most of us have an interesting start to our careers, can you tell us what your first job was?

When I was 15 years of age I got my very first job selling take away chicken chips and gravy and I thought that was the best job ever.

We are sure you’d love to unwind with a great movie, tell us what the last movie you watched and what are your ultimate “go-to” movies.

Yes, I do love to immerse myself in a good movie. The last movie I watched was “The Danish Girl” which was a very moving movie. My 2 favourite movies are “Under the Tuscan Sun” and “Letters to Juliette”. You can’t beat a good romance.

Finally, something about your store…tell us why you think your regular customers always come back?

I think our customers can tell that I enjoy my job and genuinely love to help them to look great in the clothes at Adrift.

I am a people person and have been told I am always happy and have a great smile. In my two years at Adrift many of our customers are now my friends and I look forward to making many more.
