Epic Walk for DV 2026: Five Years of Community Impact

Newmarket Village is proud to acknowledge the incredible milestone achieved by one of our tenants, Epic Hair Designs, with the fifth anniversary of the Epic Walk for DV.

Held on Sunday, 22 March 2026, the Epic Walk for DV brought communities across Queensland together to raise awareness and funds for domestic and family violence support services. What began as a local initiative has grown into a powerful statewide movement, uniting thousands of participants each year in support of survivors.

Founded by Epic Hair Designs’ Brendon Mann during the COVID‑19 pandemic, the walk was created in response to rising domestic violence rates. Five years on, it has become one of Queensland’s leading awareness and fundraising events, supporting the vital work of Women’s Legal Service Queensland.

A Record‑Breaking Year

The 2026 Epic Walk for DV was the biggest yet, with events held in:

  • Brisbane
  • Gold Coast
  • Sunshine Coast
  • Airlie Beach

Participants completed a 5km walk and came together at vibrant finish‑line events celebrating connection, community and collective action. This year alone, the walk raised more than $360,000, contributing to essential legal and support services for women and children experiencing domestic violence.

A Legacy of Change

Since its inception, the Epic Walk for DV community has raised over $650,000, while also helping to:

  • Raise awareness of domestic and family violence
  • Encourage open and important conversations
  • Reduce stigma around seeking support
  • Empower communities to take action

Newmarket Village is proud to support local businesses like Epic Hair Designs that are making a meaningful difference beyond our village.
